Who We Are

History

In 1969, a small group of dedicated men and women joined together their talents and visions to begin an ecumenical campus ministry center on the UW-Stout campus.

The goal of the founding staff was to gather the university community together to share the “Good News” and to engage in conversation about the unique Christian traditions and values which have shaped the lives of so many.

In 1975 The Ministry Incorporated Board was organized to facilitate the joint ownership and maintenance of the Blue House, located on the University’s North Campus. In 2012, the Ministry moved to their new building in the center of campus across from the Clock tower.

The center is jointly owned by the ELCA Lutheran Church and the Roman Catholic Diocese of LaCrosse. The Board’s membership is drawn from lay members of the constituent churches.

Today, The Ministry continues to serve the Stout students by providing a vital and active Christian presence on campus.
